The Position:
The Auburn Public Health Family Planning Clinic is looking for a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) who is committed to providing high quality sexual and reproductive health and education to all individuals of reproductive age.
The Family Planning Program in Auburn is one of four sites in King County. The ARNP works in the ambulatory care setting integrating knowledge and data from many scientific frameworks to provide individualized care. The ARNP body of work is distinguished from other nursing classifications in that the incumbent is responsible for medical management of health conditions including prescribing and dispensing medications. Additionally, the incumbent will be working in the STI clinic seeing males and females.

Location: Home site is Auburn Public Health Center, 901 Auburn Way N., Auburn, Suite A, WA 98002. This position may be asked to work at Federal Way or Kent Public Health clinics on occasion to meet business needs.

Work Schedule: This position is a Career Service, 1.0 FTE position that is overtime eligible. Typical clinic hours are Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m to 6 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but may work outside of the hours/days based on operational needs.

Examples of Duties:- Obtains health history through client interview and chart review
- Assesses presenting issues and risk factors, family health history, review of systems, psychosocial/developmental histories and cultural information
- Performs appropriate physical examination and assessment
- Orders and/or performs appropriate diagnostic and screening tests and collects additional data for evaluation
- Develops differential diagnosis and risk identification through assessment and interpretation of data
- Provides managed client care by developing and implementing individual treatment plan:
- prescribes/dispenses medication;
- provides appropriate referrals and ensures education, counseling and case management follow-up with other professional and community agencies
- Prepares and completes in a timely manner documentation for medical records
- Ensures quality of professional practice by practicing within professional, legal and ethical standards and by participating in and providing continuing education, peer review, chart review, development of practice guidelines and community work
- Provides ARNP support and coverage in other Public Health Centers.
Qualifications:- Thorough knowledge of advanced practice of nursing including: human systems, wellness/illness, growth and development, basic nutrition, behavioral, psycho-social and family systems, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics and alternative treatment modalities, diagnostic testing and interpretation, diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making
- Thorough knowledge of standards, policies and laws that govern professional practice
- Thorough knowledge of health promotion, risk assessment and education techniques and principles
- Thorough knowledge of health care system structure and function; community, professional and educational resources
- May be asked to work more than one site
- Demonstrated ability in: physical assessment, communication (oral, written and use of information management systems and health care technology), medical records documentation, writing medical orders, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, interviewing, analytical and critical thinking, leadership and case management
- Demonstrated ability to consult, investigate, facilitate and present effectively
- Demonstrated ability in initiating appropriate emergency response
- Demonstrated ability in working with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations providing therapeutic client interventions and group dynamics
- Demonstrated ability in handling a number of tasks simultaneously
- Thorough knowledge of infectious disease management, control and safety standards as well as personal safety techniques and principles
- Demonstrated ability to function independently while providing client care in the required specialty practice
- Demonstrated ability to provide options counseling
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in working with adolescents and providing them Primary health care
Licensing/Certification Requirements:- This position requires a FNP, Women's Health or Midwife licensure.
- Washington State license as a Registered Nurse (in good standing) and a bachelor's degree in nursing science from a School of Nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing
- Washington State license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (in good standing) with prescriptive authority
- Completion of advanced practitioner training and board certification as a nurse practitioner within required specialty practice
- Must have a National Provider Identification (NPI) number prior to credentialing
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration must be obtained prior to credentialing
- Documentation of current BLS CPR certification with AED training required at time of hire. CPR/AED Heartsaver courses do not meet this requirement.
Desired Qualifications:- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- 1-2 years as an ARNP in women's health
- Experience in public health
- Experience in client centered care and practice in health equity
- Practiced within multidisciplinary teams
- Leadership experience
Supplemental Information:- Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel to work locations with limited or no public transportation may be required for some positions.
