The Department of Executive Services – Business Resource Center has an outstanding opportunity for an energetic and resourceful financial professional who likes to "Get stuff done". This position provides high-level financial and budgetary support to the Business Resource Center.
This is an exciting development opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their skillset and learn about Budgeting and Finance for an internal service organization within King County. The ideal candidate is self-directed, likes to solve problems, enjoys working as a team, and jumps at the chance to work on special projects.
This Temporary or Special Duty assignment is currently approved until December 31, 2020. For King County employees: you will need permission from your supervisor/manager if offered the assignment.

WHAT YOU WILL BE LEARNING:
During the special duty assignment, you will be learning and participating in the following areas:- Develop central rates for the Business Resource center customers, which includes communicating and collaborating with Finance Professionals throughout the County.
- Prepare budget requests for the Business Resource Center including financial plans, revenue and expenditure requests, and provide justification as required.
- Establish and oversee the internal review of budget expenditures and actual expenditures monthly, support Business Resource Center leaders in managing section level budgets and prepare budget revisions as necessary. Develop and prepare supplemental appropriations.
- Support the leadership team in Enterprise Business Planning efforts.
- Conceptualize, develop and implement strategies, systems, standards and plans for financial and budgetary functions. Use continuous improvement techniques to accomplish these initiatives.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO:- Have a background in supporting budget, finance, OR any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to learn and perform the job duties of the position;
- Have an interest and ability to learn general principles and practices of budgeting and financial management;
- Customer service focused, organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well independently or as part of a team;
- Are proficient in using office productivity suite in daily work as well as the ability to use application tracking and/or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment.

The Location
The office is located in the heart of downtown Seattle at the Chinook building. There are hundreds of great lunch spots and transit options within walking distance.
The level of the position hired will depend on the combined qualifications of the candidate, including all education and/or experience.
