The Records and Licensing Services Division is seeking an enthusiastic records management professional to join our Records Management Program team. We are looking for a candidate who brings records management knowledge, skills, and experience along with passion, inspiration and a strong desire for excellence. Our ideal candidate supports efforts to enhance a countywide records and information management culture, with the goal of managing records from creation to disposition.
Our successful candidate will have a solid understanding of records management best practices and be able to share and explain those practices to agency staff in an engaging manner. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn about jobs throughout the county and translate those conversations into easily understood records retention schedules and records management practices and processes. SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES: To be considered for this opportunity, you must at a minimum, demonstrate knowledge, skill and ability to:- Conduct records retention interviews and inventories in county departments, identify and develop clear and concise retention schedules that reflect the responsibilities of the agency;
- Analyze agency recordkeeping practices and recommend improvements;
- Review disposition authorization notices to verify disposition eligibility of records against current retention schedules;
- Provide ongoing technical support for the county's content management system;
- Develop and conduct training on a variety of records management topics and issues, by creating training materials including online training modules;
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to help desk queries and requests regarding records management practices;
- Participate in countywide initiatives with records and information management implications;
- Promote records management awareness throughout the county by developing outreach strategies and materials;
- Communicate effectively with our diverse customers verbally and in writing;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Have a Master's Degree in with concentration in archives and records management or records and information management or significant knowledge and experience in current records and information management OR any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties;
- Have working knowledge of records management in a government agency;
- Are knowledgeable of records management best practices;
- Experience using database systems such as: Access, Oracle, electronic records management or information management systems, etc.;
- Are able to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines;
- Have a strong desire and ability to provide excellent customer service.
Supplemental Information:
- This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 Professional and Technical union and is overtime eligible;
- Our employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday;
- The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check.
