Job Summary
Performs industrial cleaning in transit and maintenance offices including floors, carpets, walls, restrooms, lunchrooms, elevators and other related functions.
Vacancy Information
This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) current career service positions within the Power and Facilities section. In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility list for future Career Service or TLT (Term Limited Temporary) positions that may occur in this classification within the Transit Division. The eligibility list would be valid for one year upon creation, at the discretion of the hiring authority.
Note: Additional premium pay amounts are provided when working swing and graveyard shifts.

Work Location
Location based on seniority based pick-process, held twice a year. Some locations do not have bus service; therefore, you must have reliable transportation.
Work Schedule
This position normally works a 40-hour work week and is overtime eligible. Shifts vary based on a seniority based pick-process, held twice a year. Note: Shifts are currently day and swing, with one or both weekend days off, but this is subject to change and all applicants must be willing to work whatever shift and days off are assigned by pick.

- Job Duties
- Provide routine maintenance on floors consisting of vinyl, slate, terrazzo, concrete and commercial grade carpeting using dust mops, vacuums and sweepers
- Clean, sanitize and stock lunchrooms, restrooms, and elevators, including tables, toilets, showers, sinks and walls
- Empty trash and recycle bins
- Dust, wash and vacuum surfaces; clean glass windows, including graffiti; clean surfaces up to 10 feet high
- Sweep and clean facility perimeter; clear snow and ice
- Request and stock various types of supplies
- Operate and maintain task specific equipment, such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, shop vacs, floor sweepers, scrubbers and steamers
- Mix and use cleaning solutions and chemicals, as directed
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience and/or training which give evidence of the ability to perform the essential functions of this position
- Knowledge and skill of basic janitorial cleaning techniques
- Knowledge and skill in the use and care of cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals and safe handling requirements
- Knowledge of basic safety rules and procedures to ensure the safety of customers and co-workers
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others
- Ability to demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions
- Skill in working with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds; ability to interact appropriately with others
- Ability to perform repetitious job tasks
- Ability to work any shift (day, swing, graveyard)
- Valid Washington State Driver's License
Experience cleaning in an industrial office environment
Physical Requirements
Must be able to constantly lift, carry and move objects up to 25 pounds and may be required to move heavier objects. Assistance is available when lifting over 50 pounds.

Selection Process
