Family Law Seminar Technician
- Summary
The incumbent is responsible for performing administrative and cashiering services related to the Family Court Operations (FCO) classes. Responsibilities include performing technical and/or administrative services in support of court programs which are offered to the public and supported by program fees. The duties require understanding and discretion in the application of established guidelines, policies and procedures. Duties also include organizing, maintaining data sources for programmatic and fiscal documents, researching and summarizing specialized or technical information, receiving funds, and establishing customer accounts. Work is performed under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment, and requires independent judgment.

Work Location: This position is assigned to both the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent and the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle. The incumbent will be required to work in both locations as needed and may be required to work in other King County locations.
Work schedule and terms: This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week. The work week is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, with occasional variations to accommodate required evening work. This position is hourly (overtime eligible) and subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

- Job Duties
The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level:
- Provide program-specific information to the public in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Interpret established rules, policies, procedures, codes, regulations and other relevant sources to internal and external customers over the telephone, in writing and in-person; handle sensitive, confidential and/or potentially volatile situations.
- Assist with general administrative tasks including but not limited to maintaining and ordering office supplies, setting up calendars and scheduling meetings.
- Assist with program services and facilitate referrals as needed.
- Organize, oversee, track, and maintain data sources, such as fiscal records, customer accounts and attendance records.
- Compile, interpret, and analyze data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, or computer files, including spreadsheets and/or customized database applications.
- Perform basic numerical calculations involving accounts receivable, cashiering, reconciliation of accounts, and/or other applications.
- Receive and account for funds. Communicate with finance offices as needed.
- Research and summarize program or technical information from varied sources, which requires selecting the most appropriate material and the use of spreadsheets and/or customized database applications. Verify and reconcile data discrepancies.
- Draft, summarize, prepare, proofread and edit documents and correspondence to ensure appropriate use of the English language, specialized terminology and established procedures.
- Process incoming mail and documents; attach related correspondence or information before forwarding as appropriate; select mail to handle personally where the response requires specialized knowledge of the assigned function; identify priority and/or time-sensitive matters; and maintain security and confidentiality.
- Plan work organization, establish work methods. Recommend changes in work load and procedures.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
A high school diploma or GED plus three years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Ability to work independently, prioritize work duties, and meet multiple and fluctuating deadlines. Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects such as video equipment.

Special requirements: Finalists must have successfully passed a criminal background check and reference check. Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license or be able to travel throughout the County by alternate means.
