The Government Affairs Analyst (Government Relations Analyst) is responsible for partnering with state and local elected officials to advance county-wide and city-specific policies and regulations that protect and promote the health of King County residents, under the direction of the state and local affairs lead or designee.

Work Schedule: The person selected for this position will be required to work 5 days a week, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

- Job Duties
Primary responsibility for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as the King County Board of Health Administrator. In this capacity, the incumbent will:
- Develop and execute a work plan for the Board of Health, working with the Director of Public Health-Seattle & King County, the Chairperson of the Board of Health, and board members. This includes coordinating all meetings and work in support of the work plan.
- Edit reports and presentations prepared by subject matter experts to brief the Board of Health on a variety of issues impacting the public's health.
- Coordinate Board of Health meetings, including coordinating presenters, preparing briefing materials and talking points.
- Lead multijurisdictional Board of Health planning meetings, representing Public Health-Seattle & King County.
- Staff Board of Health subcommittees in collaboration with the Public Health Policy and Planning Team, Local and State Affairs Lead. This includes scheduling meetings, supervising the production of meeting materials and supporting subject matter experts in developing policy proposals.
- Representing the Department at meetings with lawmakers. Researching legislative proposals and their impact on the health of King County. Responding to inquiries from local elected officials
- Managing projects to advance the policy goals of the Department.
- Assisting in other duties to advance goals of the Department's government affairs and policy teams.
- Serving as the King County Board of Health Administrator. In this capacity, the incumbent will:

Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Employees are required to adhere to OSHA/WISHA guidelines including but not limited to completing their mandatory trainings on time and obtaining required immunizations.
Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
Employees are required to protect the privacy and security of protected health information as defined in State and Federal Law.
Staff may be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours.
