Lead Transit Maintenance Constructor
- Summary
This position is considered safety sensitive. Applicants for positions defined as safety sensitive are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and, subsequent to commencement of employment, will be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with federal DOT alcohol and controlled substances testing program protocols.
This recruitment will be used to fill a Lead Transit Maintenance Constructor responsible for assigning and coordinating the work of constructors and support crewmembers. This is a working lead position and all normal duties of a constructor will also be performed.
WHO MAY APPLY: In accordance with the ATU Local 587 bargaining agreement, this position is open internally to all Metro King County Power and Facilities employees who have completed two years of current full-time service at Metro within the classification to be led, Transit Maintenance Constructor. This recruitment may be used to establish an eligibility list to fill future career service vacancies that may occur over the next twelve months.
FORMS AND MATERIALS REQUIRED: An online King County application and completion of the supplemental questionnaire are required.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position is overtime eligible and employees must be available to work one of three shifts (day, swing or graveyard). Management reserves the right to assign any shift in order to meet the needs of the work unit. Employee is subject to 24-hour call-out in response to emergencies.

In addition to performing the full range of responsibilities of the Transit Maintenance Constructor classification, incumbents in this classification will also perform the following duties:
- Working leads are responsible for coordinating the work of and providing technical assistance to maintenance constructors and support personnel; assign work in accordance with work operating requirements and workload demands; control and monitor work flow
- Respond to questions and provide technical advice on project requirements, specifications and material requirements
- Participate in the monitoring of work quality and quantity and document disciplinary problems for the chief to review when appropriate
- Monitor work assignments to ensure work has been completed in a quality manner and within established timeframes; ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order
- Train new and current personnel in required facility maintenance operations and safety procedures
- Maintain varied records including work performed, time spent, materials used, operating logs and related information; enter and extract data using automated systems; maintain manual records as required

- Two years of Metro work experience as a Transit Maintenance Constructor is required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is often performed in confined spaces and at heights and in cramped and awkward positions.
