We are looking to hire four part-time short term temporary (STT) Public Health Nurses. These positions will work in close collaboration with members of the Healthcare for the Homeless Program, Emergency Preparedness Program, and other members of the CD-Imms Program to oversee community vaccination clinics and participate in the Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreaks. These positions will be based in the Chinook Building in Downtown Seattle however the majority of the time will be spent hosting vaccination clinics in non-traditional settings such as homeless villages, day centers, and shelters throughout King County. These positions will report to the Immunization Program Manager in the Communicable Disease Epidemiology & Immunization (CD/IMMS) Section of the Prevention Division.
Work Location and Schedule: These Public Health Nurses will be working at different vaccination sites that are located throughout King County. The duration of these positions will be 3 months, with a possibility of extension.

Major program responsibilities:- Lead community vaccination clinics with a focus on vaccinating people experiencing homelessness and people who use drugs.
- Participate in CD-Imms Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreaks and emergencies, as assigned and approved by the supervisor.
Who May Apply: This part-time short-term temporary position will work no more than 25 hours per week (hours will vary) and is open to all qualified candidates.

- Supervision of immunization clinic operations and Public Health Medical Reserve Corps volunteers.
- Travel to immunization clinics, transport vaccine and other supplies, and set-up/break-down equipment.
- Maintain immunization clinic supplies and ensure appropriate storage and handling of vaccines.
- Responsible for screening and administering vaccine at some (small scale) immunization clinics.
- Provide situational health education and referrals/linkages to medical/specialty care.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners such as service providers serving persons experiencing homelessness, community health clinics, and Department staff.
- Participate in standardized evaluations of on-site clinic operations and overall vaccination strategy to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreak.
- Participate in vaccine preventable disease outbreak response activities in collaboration with CD-Imms Section staff, as assigned, including but not limited to administering vaccines, administering questionnaires, ensuring safe storage and handling of vaccines and other supplies, overseeing Department staff and Medical Reserve Corps members, ensuring adequate documentation of vaccinations administered, reviewing patient immunization histories.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:- Thorough knowledge of vaccine preventable diseases and immunizations, public health nursing principles and processes, and infectious disease management and control.
- Demonstrated experience administering vaccines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be flexible, and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to provide crisis intervention/de-escalation with high-risk and special needs populations.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments and responsibilities reliably in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate orally and in writing with supervisor, co-workers, healthcare providers, and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to provide consultation and clinical support to health care providers and the community.
- Demonstrated ability to work in community settings without on-site supervision with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Washington State Driver's License or the ability to provide transportation to work locations with limited or no public transportation services is required.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:- Current Washington State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing science from a school of nursing.
- Current and unrestricted driver's license in Washington State
Desired Qualifications:- Understanding of and familiarity with homeless services and affordable housing in King County
- Training in or knowledge of harm reduction, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, and street-based outreach
- Two years clinical experience (inpatient or outpatient)
- Master's degree in public health or related field
