The position is responsible for staffing community vaccination clinics and participating in the CD/Imms Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreaks. This position is based in the Chinook Building in Downtown Seattle however the incumbent will spend the majority of their time working in non-traditional settings such as homeless villages and shelters throughout King County. The position reports to the Immunization Program Manager in the Communicable Disease Epidemiology & Immunization (CD/IMMS) Section of the Prevention Division.
Major Program Responsibilities- Staff community vaccination clinics with a focus on vaccinating people experiencing homelessness.
- Participate in Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreaks and emergencies, as assigned and approved by the supervisor.
Specific Responsibilities:- Staff on-site vaccination clinics with a focus on vaccinating people experiencing homelessness.
- Travel to immunization clinics, assist PHN Lead to transport vaccine and other supplies, and assist with equipment (i.e. vaccination station) set-up and break-down.
- Maintain immunization clinic supplies and ensure appropriate storage and handling of vaccines.
- Screen patients for contraindications, review patient immunization histories, administer vaccines, and ensure adequate documentation of vaccine doses administered at immunization clinics.
- Provide situational health education and referrals/linkages to medical/specialty care.
- Participate in Section's response during vaccine preventable disease outbreaks
- Participate in vaccine preventable disease outbreak response activities in collaboration with Section staff, as assigned, including but not limited to administering vaccines, administering questionnaires, ensuring safe storage and handling of vaccines and other supplies, ensuring adequate documentation of vaccinations administered, reviewing patient immunization histories.
Work hours and locations: Public Health Seattle-King County has 4 short-term temporary positions available and these positions will provide support throughout the county. It requires the nurse to be able to mobilize quickly as well as ability to be flexible as the hours of work will be based on operational needs and this could include evenings and weekends. These positions are projected to last 3-6 months.

Qualifications:- Thorough knowledge of vaccine preventable diseases and immunizations and infectious disease management and control.
- Demonstrated experience administering vaccines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, be flexible, and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to provide crisis intervention/de-escalation with high-risk and special needs populations.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out assignments and responsibilities reliably in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate orally and in writing with supervisor, co-workers, healthcare providers, and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to work in community settings with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations.
- Washington State Driver's License or the ability to provide transportation to work locations with limited or no public transportation services is required.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:- Current Washington State Registered Nurse license in good standing.
- Associate degree in Nursing Science from an accredited School of Nursing
- Washington State driver's license
- Pass background check
- Current CPR for Healthcare Providers
Desired Qualifications:- Understanding of and familiarity with homeless services and affordable housing in King County
- Training in or knowledge of harm reduction, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, and street-based outreach
- Two years clinical experience (inpatient or outpatient)

- Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
