Safety & Security: Administrator I
- Summary
King County Metro Transit is searching for self-motivated individuals with good judgment, customer service focus, and high-level administrative experience to support the Director of Safety & Security. Be part of the team that ensures the safety, security, comfort, and convenience to all who use Metro services.
This temporary assignment is expected to be no more than a 3 year assignment. It is open to all for a Temporary Limited Temporary or Special Duty Assignment.
This posting may be used to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill future positions in this classification in the event such positions arise in the ensuing six month period.
As the Administrator you will:- Be the delegated authority to independently handle many daily administrative support duties for and on behalf of the manager.
- Maintain the manager calendar, provide context for appointments when necessary and assist in tracking appointments.
- Organize and schedule various meetings/events on behalf of the manager or staff; facility reservations, materials development, and prepare needed documents or equipment.
- Type and proofread a variety of documents; includes correspondence, reports, technical specifications, agendas, minutes of meetings, financial statements, memoranda, lists, and other written materials.
- Serve as liaison between the manager and internal and external groups or individuals.
- Use independent judgment to screen telephone calls, emails, and visitors to provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain confidentiality while earning trust and respect of co-workers through honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Responsible for payroll and accounts payable operations; including budget charge coding and tracking by project; budget charge reconciliation for multiple projects in Oracle.
- Prepare forms required for personnel transactions in PeopleSoft, requisition forms, purchase orders, travel, and expense reports.
- Other related duties as assigned.
We are looking for candidates who:- Have a strong background in senior-level administrative support and are able to use good judgment in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy; OR an equivalent background of education and experience;
- Are proactive and able to coordinate a high volume of diverse assignments. Can handle multiple competing priorities, and maintain attention to detail;
- Are customer focused, and have the ability to work with diverse groups of customers in person, via telephone and e-mail, and the ability to maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality;
- Have skill in the use of personal computers including intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office-Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or equivalent, and Microsoft Word. Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly.
- Can work independently on assigned tasks and be flexible and adapt as required, while working in a multi-faceted and sometimes ambiguous environment;
- Are able to handle sensitive information and/or inquiries about sensitive topics from staff or others;
- Are excellent communicators both verbally and in written form.

Work Schedule
