- Summary
Public Health - Seattle and King County is looking for a dedicated Social Worker- Float Pool to provide services to low income clients, in a variety of programs. Social work services include outreach, health education, direct counseling and crisis intervention, case management and care coordination and referral to resources to meet client/family needs. Performance of duties may be autonomous and self-directed, or provided as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This Term Limited Temporary (TLT) position is anticipated to last two (2) years, and is benefits-eligible.

WORK SCHEDULE: This 0.8 FTE works Monday through Friday, 32 hours per week, and work hours vary based on program needs and site assignment. It is non-exempt and therefore subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
WORK LOCATION: This position will be scheduled through the Float Pool and will work at any of the eight (8) Public Health Centers, Prevention services, and Community Programs throughout King County, changing locations regularly.

- Provide direct services to individuals and groups in Public Health setting in Parent Child Health programs, TB Control Program, Healthcare for the Homeless programs, and other Public Health programs both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide direct services to clients including case management and care coordination, health education, counseling and referral as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Conduct comprehensive, cultural sensitive screenings and assessments of high-risk clients and families.
- Provide direct behavioral health services and consultation to other specialty clinics within Public Health as indicated and appropriate.
- Facilitate referrals for indicated services outside of the organization (e.g., social services such as housing assistance, vocational rehabilitation, mental health specialty care, substance abuse treatment).
- Educate staff regarding mental health, domestic violence, substance abuse issues and available local resources.
- Provide consultation to a variety of Health Department staff and community partners;
- Work collaboratively as part of a team with other disciplines in public health and the community.
- Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling and referral services to stabilize client psychosocial needs and coping skills.
- Coordinate with supervisor regarding activity priorities according to program and site needs.
- Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from an accredited university
- Current license or associated level license in Social Work, Mental Health or Marriage and Family Counseling; or the ability to obtain agency affiliated status (must apply immediately upon hire and obtain within 60 days of hire).
- Documentation of current BLS CPR certification with AED training required at time of hire. CPR/AED Heartsaver courses do not meet this requirement.
- Demonstrated ability to provide social work services independently with minimal immediate supervision and as part of a team
- Experience successfully providing social work services independently in a health or social service setting including completing assessments, treatment planning, case management, care coordination and crisis intervention
- Demonstrated ability to successfully apply appropriate and best practice models of care based on a variety of client presentations
- Demonstrated ability to educate other staff regarding mental health, domestic violence, substance abuse issues and available local resources
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to foster and maintain a variety of interpersonal relationships
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of organization to meet high volume workload demands
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practice and understanding of the effects of health disparities and population health
- Working knowledge of standard software applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to travel in a timely manner within King County to locations that may have limited access to public transportation.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the work.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Specific specialized experience or advanced training in mental health, domestic violence, or substance abuse
- Experience providing social services to high-risk clients of low income, multi-lingual, multi-ethnic, and multi-cultural populations.

- Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
- Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
- Staff may be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:- The selected candidate must pass a thorough background investigation.
- The candidate must possess a valid Washington State driver's license or have the ability to travel throughout King County in a timely manner.
