Job Overview
We are searching for a creative, energetic, proven team leader with a passion for making a difference and improving people's mobility. You will oversee a dynamic staff of independent, entrepreneurial professionals working to change the way people travel in King County in partnership with employers, agencies and institutions. You will set strategic direction, collaborate with agency and industry leaders, and deliver solutions that solve mobility challenges. Equity, sustainability and connecting people to opportunity drives our decision-making and this role will be crucial to implementing these values.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Promote equity through program development and by fostering an equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment
- Support and guide team members through coaching, staff development, empowering decision-making, managing through change, and encouraging team cohesion
- Serve as a voice for Transportation Demand Management (TDM) and innovative programming at Metro and work across the agency and with transit, city, non-profit and employer partners to test, implement, evaluate, and adjust new products and services
- Provide strategic direction and set goals, objectives and priorities, secure funding, allocate resources and measure performance
- Ensure fare policy supports agency objectives, and drive innovation in pricing strategies to increase mobility
- Foster partnerships and collaborate with a broad spectrum of organizations, institutions, employers and agencies to leverage opportunities to improve mobility for a broad range of customers
- Deliver presentations to elected officials, regional transportation authorities, transportation stakeholder groups, professional organizations, and other related groups
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in transportation demand management, behavior change, business development, mobility services, or other related field
- Adaptable mindset that supports a culture of innovation, evaluation, and continuous improvement
- Work experience that includes team management, supervision and organizational development
- Organizational savvy and the ability to manage and navigate cross-divisional initiatives, and external inter-agency and jurisdictional efforts
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and sustainability
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully with a diverse group of individuals from a variety of different positions and backgrounds
- Ability to think strategically, cultivate relationships and leverage resources
- Experience with workforce planning, project management, grant processes and budget development and oversight
- Understanding of fare policy and pricing concepts
- Familiarity with governmental legislative processes and bodies
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in planning, economics, transportation, sociology, environmental science, or related field
- Familiarity with process improvement
- Familiarity with data analysis
About Market and Business Development
The Market and Business Development group integrates demand management programming with our robust business program to increase the use of transportation options throughout King County. The team develops new tools to influence travel choice behavior, including fare and other products to target priority populations. We also manage over 900 partnerships with large and small employers, improving commute options for their workforce. The group includes three teams: Transportation Demand Management (TDM), Pricing and Policy, and Business Programs. Metro Transit was honored to receive the Association for Commuter Transportation award for TDM Excellence in 2017.

Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is therefore not eligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. Work outside of the normal work day is required periodically.
