Transit Administrative Support Specialist III
- Summary
The current vacancy is a temporary position that could be filled either by hiring a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) employee or by providing a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) to an existing King County career service employee who has completed their initial King County probation. The temporary assignment is expected to last until December 2020.
This position will provide office management support for Metro's Security & Emergency Management section; which is comprised of a small body of program managers who manage the contract security component of our public safety program including security monitoring center staffing, park & ride patrols, Metro facilities patrol, and fare enforcement on King County Metro coaches. The security branch also writes, implements, and manages security policy including facilities security, and coordinates with law enforcement to ensure a consolidated approach to general public security within the system. Transit Security manages the on-board camera systems, including retrieval and processing of videos which aid in risk and safety inquiries, criminal investigations, and various other uses for the surveillance data. Also administered in-house is the fare violation program, an equity and social justice program supporting fare enforcement best practices and outcomes for riders.
This work is sensitive and often requires a law enforcement clearance or other need-to-know type access. Confidentiality is critical, as security and emergency management work often leads to access to sensitive information about employees or patrons, and discretion is essential.
The position provides office management support, ensures timely and accurate tracking of employee leave, payroll processing, maintains files, monitors and tracks budget expenditures and maintains spreadsheets and databases. Work requires compliance with all Transit Division and County policies, processes and procedures and is performed independently under general supervision. The work location is at Central Base, and thus is removed from the various larger Metro offices. A person who takes direction well, extrapolates logical intent from that direction, and then works well independently without an abundance of supervision would excel in this role.
Who May Apply
This position is open to the general public and all King County employees.
