Transit Operations Support System Coordinator

**This 3 month Special Duty Assignment is open to King County Metro Bus Supervisors, Rail Supervisors or O&M Supervisors with previous Bus Supervisor experience or Senior Schedule Planners only**
The Transit Operations System Support Coordinator will plan, develop and maintain essential systems and administrative procedures to support daily operations and ensure the accuracy of information for the Operations section's employee shake-ups and daily work assignments.
JOB DUTIES:- Plan and conduct full time and part time Transit Operator picks utilizing automated computer systems and applications.
- Validate payroll transfer between automated systems each pay period; coordinate base assignments for system board operators; update associated records and data in automated systems.
- Collect and analyze current and historical data to assist transit operations in developing strategies to determine staffing and training needs; manage and distribute assignments for newly hired, part time Transit Operators.
- Manage first line supervisor assignment picks; manage bi-weekly assignments for Base Dispatcher/Planners that include relief picks and overtime assignments; process reported overtime and post updated overtime lists.
- Develop methods to improve automated systems, applications and functionality to better support transit operations; test system customizations, upgrades and new releases; test and support peripheral systems and applications.
- Design, schedule and conduct base operations training program for first line supervisors; train supervisors on use of automated support systems, transit procedures and requirements of negotiated agreements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve user encountered system problems and breakdowns; coordinate with technical staff as required.
- Represent Transit Operations on special projects and provide expertise in operational procedures and requirements of negotiated agreements.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:- Currently employed by King County Metro as a bus supervisor, rail supervisor or an O&M supervisor with previous bus supervisor experience or a senior schedule planner.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the ATU Local 587 Labor Agreement involving Operations' employees or staffing requirements for bus operators and first-line supervisors, etc. and the ability to interpret and determine the ramifications of collective bargaining agreements, historical practices, and other policies and procedures.
- Skill in analyzing data to identify trends and to make recommendations on a specific course of action.
- Knowledge of automated information systems and requirements, including HASTUS; skill in troubleshooting and resolving problems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical transportation-related information to non-technical transportation audiences.
- Skill in preparing and conducting training programs.
- Ability to prepare cost-projections and/or other projections regarding assigned systems; skill in mathematics to conduct cost modeling or projections.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to handle a number of projects simultaneously.
- Ability to develop and maintain tracking systems to support assigned work responsibilities.
- Understanding of transportation scheduling and work assignment techniques.
- Experience with data processing techniques and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
- A current, valid Washington State Driver's License is required in order to travel to remote sites with limited access to public transportation and to respond to systems problems any hour of the day.

Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. The work-week is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended and/or flex scheduled work hours may be required to respond to service needs. This position performs on-call duties which may require occasional evening, night and/or weekend work.
