Transit Pass Sales Rep
- Summary
King County Metro has exciting opportunities for Transit Pass Sales Representatives. These positions assist customers in transportation solutions of fare media to the public, social services organizations, and area employers in-person, by telephone, mail order, online and at community events. Successful candidates will be comfortable using technology and are skilled in tactful communications in high volumes.
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple immediate temporary staffing needs (TLT/SDA) that are a minimum of 6-month appointments.
This recruitment will also be used to create an eligibility list to fill future career service or term-limited temporary (TLT, with benefits) vacancies in this classification that may occur over the next twelve months. JOB DUTIES:- Provide courteous and patient customer service to all, and maintain professionalism while under stress and when dealing with difficult customers.
- Sell and issue ORCA cards, regional Puget Passes, agency specific passes, and E-purse value.
- Provide ORCA card program information. Respond to questions from the public regarding the agency's transportation services, fares, fare policies, and pass options.
- Explain Regional Reduced Fare Permits, eligibility requirements, policies and fees; evaluate applications; issue permits to qualified applicants.
- Prepare daily cash and sales reports.
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Prepare credit card sales transmissions.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of pass supplies and sales. Reconcile inventory and cash drawer.
- Maintain confidential records and information.
- Travel in an agency provided vehicle throughout King County to support populations outside of Seattle.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:- Experience in providing customer service and ability to deal tactfully with the public in person and via telephone.
- Ability to use computers accurately for data entry and retrieval. Skilled in keyboarding with speed and accuracy; enter data and research multiple computer screens to retrieve information for customers via a keyboard.
- Ability to handle cash accurately (including balancing a cash register drawer accurately).
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Ability to read, learn, comprehend, and clearly explain policies, procedures, and information found on fare media, timetables and schedules. Skill in acquiring knowledge of specialized terminology.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced production-oriented work environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals including elderly and disabled persons, in a tactful, diplomatic, and sensitive manner.
- Good analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Fluency in one of King County's most frequently used languages other than English: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Somali, Ukrainian, Amharic, and Punjabi – referred to as Tier 1 or Tier 2 languages in the County's Executive Order on Translation.
Pass Sales Representatives are required to push mobile workstations up to 60 lbs. (which includes computer, card printer, receipt printer, cash drawer, credit card reader and ORCA card reader), set up a mobile tent, chairs, and tables, and lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds in an elevated position.
Special Requirement
A valid State Driver's License and an acceptable driving record are required. Out-of-state applicants must obtain their Washington license by 3 months of hire date.

Work Schedule
These positions are subject to Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and are therefore eligible for overtime pay if scheduled. Our Pass Sales Offices are open 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, except for major holidays. The typical start time is 8 a.m. but can vary based on scheduled mobile sales events during the week and weekends. Mobile sales events may occur after hours and on weekends, as needed. Weekend and after-hours availability is a requirement for this position.
Selection Process
Applications will be screened for qualifications, clarity, and completeness. Competitive applicants will be invited to participate in a testing process and may be invited to a panel interview. References will also be conducted and a driving abstract review on final candidates.
