Job Summary: Assist in flow meter installation and maintenance, field data collection, facilities inspection duties, traffic control support, confined space entry safety support, verify monitor readings and assist with field surveys in support of the various WTD programs including: Infiltration and Inflow Rehabilitation (I/I), Conveyance System Improvement (CSI), Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO), and Green System Infrastructure (GSI) programs.
Work Schedule:
This position is overtime eligible, with a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Flexible days and hours may be acceptable based on business needs and at the discretion of the work group supervisor.
Work Environment:- Work will be split as follows: approximately 70% of the time will be in the field and 30% of the time will be in the office. The majority of the work will be performed in active sewer lines, sewage treatment plants and pump stations in all kinds of weather. There will be frequent entry into hazardous confined spaces.
- Exposure to raw sewage, bloodborne pathogens, potentially hazardous chemicals, street traffic and electrical installations is part of the normal working conditions. Vaccinations are provided for Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio.
- Some duties may require work to be performed at night and/or on weekends.

The successful candidates will:
- Perform a variety of flow monitoring tasks, install all appropriate equipment in the field and collect data.
- Assist in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of conveyance flow monitoring equipment.
- Assist in field surveys.
- Take field notes.
- Provide assistance to Conveyance Inspection and Flow Monitoring programs as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have:- Successful completion of a one-year construction vocational program in civil technology OR one year of sub-professional engineering, technical or construction experience is required.
- A valid Washington State driver's license is required.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be willing to successfully work with a diverse group of people, including the general public, contractors and representatives from other agencies
- The successful candidate must submit a 5-year Complete Driving Abstract prior to final job offer
- A physical examination will be required, upon a contingent job offer, with the cost covered by King County
- Course work in Wastewater Technology
- Technical report writing experience
- Previous flow monitoring experience
- Familiarity with computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as MainSaver
- The position requires lifting and carrying material and equipment, and occasional lifting of items weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Working in confined spaces and live sewer pipelines may require walking in a bent over position for long distances.
- Capable and willing to use personal safety equipment such as respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), if required.
