Lakehaven Water and Sewer District has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Person in the Field Operations Department. Applications will be accepted for any level in the position range shown below.

As a Lakehaven Maintenance Person, you will be part of a team that has been recognized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for its environmental stewardship and has been a long-standing member of the American Water Works Association. Lakehaven has a service area population of over 135,000 people living across a 35 square mile area in south King County, makings us the second largest special-purpose water and sewer district in the state. Our water system includes 450 miles of water mains, 25 active wells and 12 storage tanks, which allows us to meet a current annual average water demand of 10 million gallons per day (MGD) from the community. Lakehaven also has 2 wastewater treatment plants, 27 sewer lift stations, and 350 miles of sewer mains capable of collecting and treating up to 15.6 MGD. Our Field Operations team performs field data collection, maintenance, and construction work throughout the water and wastewater facilities of the District. Routine duties include meter reading, building maintenance, operating and maintaining valves/pumps in sewer pumping stations, sewer pipe cleaning, installation and repair of water lines and hydrants using backhoes and hydro excavators, flagging, and erosion control work. Position placement and pay is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate should have some combination of the following:
- High school diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year of experience in a similar work situation or any combination of relevant education and experience demonstrating competency.
- Basic mechanical ability. Knowledge, and skill in using hand tools, power tools, instruments, equipment, radios, and materials used in waterworks.
- Basic knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Ability to perform manual labor and withstand exposure to variable weather consitions, loud noise, hazardous chemicals and odors, and enter confined spaces.
- A Washington State “Wastewater Collection Specialist I (WWC I)” certification is highly desred, but not required.
- Commercial Drivers License desired but not required at time of hire.
