Lateral Police Officer
The City of Langley is accepting applications for the position of Lateral Police Officer. Join a department in which the city highly values and provides strong support for the city’s Police Department. A police officer for the City of Langley performs a full scope of law enforcement duties in protecting life and property, conducting investigations, working in partnership with neighboring jurisdiction law enforcement, fire and medical as well as local businesses and organizations. Due to the small size of the department, the officer will participate in assignments involving support-type services. Due to the strong sense of community, an officer will act at all times to the best interest of the police department's role in being a service organization to the community. The qualified candidate must have worked as a full time Law Enforcement officer for at least 24 of the last 36 months prior to application. Must be able to deal with extremely stressful events in a professional manner. Must be in excellent physical condition without defects that would prohibit participating in all aspects of police work. No felony convictions or domestic violence related misdemeanors. All misdemeanor convictions will be closely scrutinized. Must meet all current requirements of the Langley Civil Service Commission. Any information intentionally left off of background investigation will result in automatic disqualification. Applicants must have proof of high school graduation and must have the ability to communicate well and have the ability to employ good common sense and use sound judgment in dealing with the public in normal and stressful emergency situations. Will be responsible for a take-home patrol vehicle including care, upkeep and scheduling of maintenance.
