Human Resources is now accepting applications from food service employees who are interested in being considered for a Float Manager position. This is a 190-day contracted position assigned at various locations throughout the district for a minimum of 6.0 hours per day. The Float Manager may serve as a substitute for the Cook Manager, Secondary Assistant Manager or Cook Assistant in any building as required. The Float Manager is notified the day the position becomes available as to the location of the assignment and needs to be filled. The Float Manager makes meals that meet the “School Meal Pattern” available to every school child; prepares or assists in preparation and service of nutritious food as required by participation in the federal program; and provides sanitary working conditions.

# of Hours: 6.0 - 8.0 hours per day
Salary: $22.60 - $26.99 per hour, depending on experience

RESPONSIBLE TO
Food Service personnel are responsible to the Director of Food Service, Building Administrator, Food Service Field Supervisors, and the Cook Manager if applicable.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a food handler’s permit. Must be neat, clean, alert, accurate, and have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, staff and students. Requires strong basic skills to accurately follow written instructions and utilize basic math calculations. Position requires stamina (standing long hours) and the ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must be a good role model and enjoy working with children. The Food Service Floater Substitute will:
● Be able to assist in preparation and service of all menu items for Breakfast and Lunch that are appealing and attractive to students.
● Be able to operate large equipment such as: ovens, range, dishwasher, meat slicer, garbage disposal, steam-jacketed kettle, proofer, steamers, and mixer.
● Be able to maintain a clean kitchen with sanitary working conditions.
● Be flexible.
● Be able to quickly learn new tasks and adapt to new worksites.
● Perform all duties necessary to maintain a compliant National School Lunch Program.
● Be able and willing to learn managerial tasks including but not limited to cash handling, ordering, receiving, training, assigning tasks to other employees, managing employee issues, enforcing sanitation and safety practices, troubleshooting technical and equipment issues, making judgment calls on behalf of the department etc.
Specific standard job duties and equipment specifically relating to each food service position may be requested from the Food Service office or kitchen site.
SALARY
This position is represented by United Classified Workers Union #4795 and subject to all terms and conditions of the current labor contract. This position is paid at the Cook Manager of pay. Salary placement on the current salary schedule, depending upon experience. This position qualifies for Medical/Dental/Vision benefits, Sick and Personal leave, paid holidays, and Retirement benefits.
