Psychologist
Position Summary:
The Psychologist position will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs for all Center for Sport clinical programs. The primary responsibilities are divided between the interrelated functions of clinical management and some research practice.
Duties include: patient assessment, treatment planning and coordination, counseling, multidisciplinary staffing, research, and ongoing program monitoring and development. Follow-up with appropriate services locally and nationally is required. The position must interface successfully with University resources, such as the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine, Tulane Athletics, and other academic departments. As well as contracted entities that include, the NFLPA Trust, Avalon Fund Veteran Networks, and other entities as needed to address the needs of the athletes, veterans, and their families. The successful candidate must utilize the appropriate digital tools for communication and data analysis to support patient care, enhance interoffice and intra-office communications, and maintain confidentiality and the requirements of HIPAA.
- Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed
- Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in the state of Louisiana at the time of hire.
- 5 years of minimum experience providing direct clinical service
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in rehabilitation psychology and treatment of medical and neurological conditions.
- Clinical experience working with high-profile athletes and military veterans.
- Work history in a medical setting and academic experience.
- Knowledge of medical and psychological aspects of disability and illness and a strong foundation in patient and family-centered care.
- Experience in the psychological management of chronic pain.
- Specialized training in treating complex trauma and serious mental illness.
- Experience in substance abuse and behavioral health training.
- Experience with mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injuries.
