Purpose Statement
The job of Executive Director – Learning and Teaching K-Postsecondary is done for the purpose/s of serving as department head and collaborating with internal staff, local school district staff/ administrators, students, families, and community members to implement gap closing and instructional programs; and using the Transformative Institutional Values to lead collective efforts to shift system practices and adult behavior to ensure student academic and social emotional success.

Essential Functions
Advises school and district administrators, staff and other partners on gap closing programs and services for the purpose of promoting awareness of programs and services offered by PSESD.- Directs significant educational reforms that enact best practices related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the purpose of ensuring students are college and career ready.
- Leads the professional learning of P-12 educators and internal staff, anchored in racial equity and antiracist leadership for the purpose of shifting systemic practices and adult behavior and integrating culturally responsive strategies to achieve academic and social emotional success.
- Directs the development and integration of programs that support school districts in managing academic and nonacademic programs for the purpose of ensuring organizational objectives are achieved in the most effective and timely manner.
- Utilizes evidence and research-based data, on best practices from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of impacting actions, analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with various policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
- Collaborates with others to develop and sustain equitable partnerships with PSESD staff, district educators, students, families and community members for the purpose of designing and implementing high quality programs and services that eliminate opportunity gaps and align with agency-wide goals.
- Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization for the purpose of meeting the Agency’s END: Success for Each Child and Eliminating the Opportunity Gap by Leading with Racial Equity.
- Facilitates meetings that may frequently involve a range of issues for the purpose of identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations, supporting staff, and serving as the PSESD representative.
- Oversees assigned programs’ responsibilities (e.g. agency policies and procedures, grant guidelines, State and Federal regulations, etc.) for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to organizational objectives, and ensuring conformance with legal, financial and PSESD requirements.
- Participates in and/or leads meetings (e.g. professional associations, networks, workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects addressing educational reform, and instructional improvement.
- Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, hiring, coaching, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing to ensure that goals of programs/services are met, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.
- Prepares a wide variety of materials for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting requirements and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
Provides technical assistance on school improvement processes for the purpose of ensuring compliance with legal and administrative requirements. - Responds to issues and inquiries from school district administrators, parents, and educators regarding educational reform and instructional improvement efforts for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action.
- Serves on the executive leadership team and other committees for the purpose of addressing agency
goals and vision, programs, agency policies and procedures, budgeting and financial matters.
Other Functions
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing a department; monitoring budget expenditures. utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Master’s degree in job-related area.
Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree in related area with job-related experience.
