Substitute Bus Driver/ Bus Driver Pool
PSESD seeks on-call Substitute Bus Drivers for our Early Learning and McKinney Vento Transportation Services to transport children to program-related activities. In addition to being on call, sub drivers from this pool will be eligible for open routes as they come available.
We provide pupil transportation for 700 part-day Head Start and ECEAP children in King and Pierce Counties and are in our second year of providing services through the McKinney Vento program. The transportation program runs a fleet of 24 buses and employs 26 regular and substitute school bus drivers. We provide school bus transportation to those part-day Head Start grantees and ECEAP sub-contractors who do not have their transportation services provided through a local school district. We operate under the guidance of the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Pupil Transportation Services, as well as the mandates included in the Head Start, ECEAP, and McKinney-Vento Program Standards which govern program operation including the provision of transportation services.
PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts, charter schools, and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and K-12 services in the state. Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED Certificate
• Washington State Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Class B Endorsement and OSPI Type 1 Driver Authorization
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience transporting children
• Experience working with culturally diverse children and families experiencing homelessness or domestic violence
• Volunteer experience

Salary: Substitute Bus Drivers $22.34 per hour
Regular Bus Drivers: $ 23.22 - $26.93 per hour based on experience and internal equity
