Architect - Rakuten USA, Inc. (Seattle, WA): Work w/product stakeholders in Japan & U.S. to define new Rakuten Group catalog platform for Rakuten Ichiba & other Rakuten bus. units. Analyze sys req’mts & compatibility w/sys implementation frameworks. Ensure that sys built is scalable & highly-avai using industry standards & best practices, incl, but not limited to microsrvcs & srvc-oriented architecture. Take ownership of sys API definition to ensure coherent, consistent & complete external API definition. Apply REST principles & API best practices to make API’s easily understandable & usable. Analyze future data model needs for Rakuten Group global catalog & plan data model changes. Work w/dvlprs to define data model changes. Produce & maintain documentation defining & describing components of Rakuten Catalog Platform, incl, but not limited to, API definitions, process flows & Entity Relationship Diagrams. Determine optimum class solutions & dvlp Product “proof-of-concept” code that can be used as basis for dvlpmt of new functionality. Stay abreast of language & tool dvlpmt, evangelizing where appropriate to introduce new technologies. Master’s or equiv in CS, Math or rel field + 5 yrs exp in product catalogue building in e-commerce industry OR Bachelor’s or equiv in CS, Math or rel field + 7 yrs exp in product catalogue building in e-commerce industry. Must have following skills: 1 yr exp working as comp architect. The employer will accept any amount of prof’l exp in following skills. Exp w/Sys Design. Exp w/prog’g in C-based language, such as C, C++, C#, & Java. Exp working in Agile Softw Dvlpmt Process, such as Scrum. Exp designing Relational Dbase. Exp building global ecommerce product catalog. Exp building modern SOA platform. Exp designing REST APIs. Exp in reviewing code & ensure best practices (e.g. SOLID Principles) are being followed by eng’rs.
