Job Summary
The kitchen Lead is the lead cook; inventories and orders food and supplies; assists with preparation and service of food; and assists with maintenance of the kitchen. Directs other food workers when kitchen manager is not present. Allows a break time for employees. Works with Manager to develop more expanded menu for Upper School Campus.
Primary Responsibilities
- Check inventory and orders food and supplies based on menus: Work with Manager to ensure correct orders, Inventory control and help plan out daily food.
- Keep all food rotated, checking dates and insure all areas with Salad Bar and Bistro Bar are being cleaned and rotated.
- Do weekly Orders and discuss with manager new items kitchen can add. Help put away orders.
- Check menus and pull required foods from the freezer, work with manager to determine counts for the daily menu.
- Pre-heat cooking equipment as needed
- Stock coolers and deli-case with beverages, pre-prepared foods, and items requiring refrigeration
- Work to ensure pre made foods for the cold case are fresh and made daily
- Prepare and set out breakfast foods
- Prepare daily hot entrees
- Store food in warmers and perform temperature checks
- Prepare pre-ordered sandwiches and salads, Assist when needed.
- Prepare food for the bistro sandwich and salad station, Assist when needed.
- Serve food during lunch service hours, Run Hot Line and insure freshness of Hot items
- Help maintain equipment, clean ovens, dishwasher etc.
- Shut down cooking equipment
- Clean trays, dishes, towels and any equipment used in the preparation and service of food
- Any other tasks the director of food services designates
- Work with manager to ensure daily kitchen tasks are done
Job Requirements
- Food Service Work Permit required
- Food Service experience preferred
- Some Cooking background preferred
