SET THE COURSE
Responsible for Tommy Bahama's benefits plans including implementation, communication, and administration. Ensures compliance with all related benefit and leave administration, safety and general liability programs. Manager benefits and leave administrators and oversees open enrollment for Tommy Bahama. Partners closely with Oxford benefits teams that utilize the same broker and who manage the 401(k), deferred compensation and other programs related to enterprise benefits.
BE THE ISLAND GUIDE
- Manage the employee benefit programs such medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance plans, COBRA, FSA, EAP, tuition reimbursement.
- Work with Oxford and the broker to evaluate current benefit programs, control cost, and execute plan changes based on market assessment and business strategy. Develop company cost information for new plans and make recommendations to senior management concerning cost sharing strategy between Tommy Bahama and employee.
- Install approved new plans and changes by preparing communication materials, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees. Advise and counsel management and employees on existing benefits. Work with Finance, HRIS and Payroll to ensure systems are developed to support the administration of the benefit plans.
- Works with broker and Oxford on the preparation and execution of benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.
- Participate in preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as the IRS, DOL, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and reports necessary or suggested changes to senior management. Coordinate company benefits, with government sponsored programs.
- Develop and oversee the administration of the company's self-insured workers' compensation and disability programs, as well as the management of all occupational and non-occupational leaves of absences consistent with state and federal law.
- Manage the company's "return-to-work" program including temporary transitional duty, fitness for duty, and reasonable accommodation. Benefit and leave administration includes disability, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), and Americans with Disabilities Act and others.
- Oversee and manage Tommy Bahama's safety program at all locations, including management of worker's compensation claims and general liability claims. Make recommendations with respect to settlements and risk exposure.
- Responsible for staying ahead of what happening in the benefits field and knowing our competition and making recommendations with respect to how to stay competitive. Always with the cost in mind.
- Plan and prepare for the future, including tasks like onsite flu vaccinations, etc. Confidentially and continuously thinking about what we can do better.
- Partner with Oxford and Tommy Bahama Recruiting Manager on compensation related projects.
- Flexible for other duties as needed to help support the overall business.
ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
- Generally, 8+ years experience in benefits management & administration with at least 3+ years supervisory experience.
- Management experience with both self insured and fully insured benefit plans.
- 3-5 Workers Compensation experience
- 2-3 Years Safety experience overseeing safety and compliance programs
- Excellent command of Microsoft office software, Time keeping software and Payroll software (ADP Preferred) and HRIS (Workday)
