The College of Engineering’s Advising & Student Engagement team is currently comprised of a director, an assistant director, a senior adviser, and an adviser. This is a highly collaborative, hardworking team that provides holistic, developmental, exploratory advising, manages the Engineering First-Year (E-FIG) program, creates and manages large-scale student engagement events, supports the engineering Living Learning Community (LLC), coordinates the student clubs and competition groups in the college and more! The team’s mission is to create opportunities for engineering exploration, foster intentional community, and empower students to maximize their UW experience. In fall 2018, the College admitted its first cohort of 950 students in its new direct-to-college admission model which allows ample opportunities for innovation and new thinking around student success.
The College of Engineering has an outstanding opportunity to join the Advising & Student Engagement team as an Academic Adviser. Reporting to the Director of Advising & Student Engagement, this position advises a caseload of 300-400 Engineering Undeclared students.
Our ideal candidate is an entry-level student affairs professional who is deeply committed to student success, is eager and motivated to learn new things, and is an effective communicator who thrives in a very collaborative, high volume, fast-paced environment. They should be skilled in demonstrating empathy, building rapport, and maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, and faculty. In addition, they should be highly organized with excellent attention to detail. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic to join an innovative team that is passionate about producing excellent work that leads to excellent student outcomes!
