The Division of Social Science Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time regular Academic Counselor.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Advising students:
Advising GWSS current majors and minors. Advising potential majors and minor students on program requirements for admission to the GWSS program, including information about registration, courses, and graduation requirements; use of the on-line registration system. In addition, help plan and conduct orientations and workshops for the benefit of undergraduate majors, as well as provide support to department student groups as needed.
Undergraduate Programs:
Work collaboratively with the GWSS Director of Undergraduate Education on projects that support the teaching mission and learning goals of the department. Increasing student enrollments by liaison with faculty and Office of Undergraduate Education. Work with the Chair and the Administrator in planning the department's curriculum, and perform other duties as needed. Work with the Department Administrator on creating and updating quarterly time schedule via Time Construction and Time Update system.
Outside organization:
Setting up community & service learning opportunities to meet the internship requirements.
Department events:
Responsible for initiating and organizing career development activities, departmental graduation ceremony, and organizing production of department newsletter.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree; and at least one year's admissions counseling and/or outreach experience, or equivalent.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
