The College of Education is in a period of significant growth in undergraduate enrollment. The Admission & Outreach Adviser will be a key player in the ongoing success of the College of Education. The College has a completely online BA degree-completion program in Early Care & Education (ECE) which serves non-traditional students in the Puget Sound area as well as across the United States. At the UW Seattle campus, the College offers BA degrees in Early Childhood & Family Studies (ECFS) and Education, Communities and Organizations (ECO). Additionally, the Education, Learning, and Society (ELS) Minor enrolls UW students from a wide variety of majors across campus.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, socioeconomic status, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, and religion, country of origin or citizenship status. This position is designed to assist the College of Education in meeting its enrollment goals, and increase the visibility of its majors and minor to prospective students in the community, students enrolled at the UW Seattle campus, and other academic units at UW.
This position works collaboratively with undergraduate academic advisers and College leadership, including the Director of Undergraduate Programs and the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising, to gain a deep understanding of our programs and execute outreach activities and advise prospective students. This position requires strong people skills and a desire to meet students and community members where they are with the goal of being a welcoming and informed representative of the College. The person in this position must be able to communicate effectively to individuals with widely varying educational backgrounds, socio-economic status, age, nationalities, and language proficiency.
