The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a highly qualified Advancement and Communications Officer who will be responsible for activities designed to enhance public awareness of and increase private support for the Department of Biology and its programs.
The Biology Advancement and Communications Officer will plan, manage, and implement department efforts to build relationships with alumni and friends of the Department, attract private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations and promote the Department regionally, nationally, and globally. Responsibilities include gift stewardship, alumni and donor relations, external communications, planning special events supporting fundraising and stewardship, and assistance with fundraising activities. This position has extensive direct contact with the department’s diverse internal and external audiences including alumni and donors, friends, faculty, staff and students. There has never been a more exciting time to be a part of UW Biology: the College of Arts and Sciences recently finished the Life Sciences Campaign, which resulted in the opening of a brand new Life Sciences Building. This position will work closely with the College of Arts and Sciences Life Sciences major gifts Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in the Life Sciences or a related field and two years of experience in administrative support, development/advancement/fundraising, alumni relations or communications.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
An equivalent combination of education and or experience may substitute for the stated requirements.
