The Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant to the Vice President. This position will provide administrative support to the Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity/University Diversity Officer (UDO); including coordination of the VP's calendar, travel arrangements and reimbursement, assisting with special projects and University-related events, and sorting VP's incoming mail. Serves as the communication liaison to the Vice President by coordinating, planning, implementing and monitoring activities within the purview of the Vice President's office, including reviewing and triaging office email. Serves as the point of contact to the Office of the President and Provost, including submitting President/Provost Attendance Forms (PARF). Provides staff support to high level advisory and consultative bodies, such as the President's Minority Community Advisory Committee. Also provides scheduling support to the OMA&D Director of Strategy. This role organizes and monitors extensive confidential activities.
The position requires the ability to work in a fast paced, complex, dynamic and sometimes high stakes environment. The complexity of the work encompasses dealing with confidential activities and issues which are oftentimes of high level interest and concern to the senior leadership of the UW. This position requires excellent judgement and discretion in balancing competing priorities.
As the Assistant to the Vice President, the person in this position plays a critical role in the success of the administration of the Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity/University Diversity Officer. The Vice President is highly influential in all areas of the UW's mission and at other levels of the institution. The complexities arising out of confidential and sensitive matters commonly dealt with in this position are frequently of interest and concern to senior leadership of the UW. The position increases the efficiency of the Vice President by periodically taking the lead with projects and responsibilities that fall under the purview of the Vice President.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) the ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing;
2) the ability to adapt communication style for the intended audience; and
3) exceptional and creative writing and proofreading skills.
