UWC² has an outstanding opportunity for a Business Analyst to join their Project Management Office (PMO) team. 

The Business Analyst will conduct business and systems analysis, support the development of high-quality software, and support change management in the information technology departments in UWC², but may be called to provide the same skills supporting other, non-IT initiatives.   The position will collaborate closely with UWC² business groups, as well as UW schools, colleges and administrative units to leverage these skills to support the development, implementation and maintenance of on-line student services systems, internet applications, and systems to provide operational support to university administrators.

The ideal employee in this role will possess proven business and systems analysis, software quality control, and change management skills; and ability to build collaborative and harmonious relationships with diverse team members and departments within the University. A successful candidate will be a conceptual and analytical thinker, and will use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business and Systems Analysis
  • Thoroughly understand business and operational processes to identify, develop, and recommend solutions that optimize these processes.
  • Actively manage the requirements process including elicitation, analysis, prioritization, documentation and communication.
  • Facilitate meetings with business stakeholders and as needed individually conduct use case and user analysis.
  • Define and re-engineer business processes and workflows.
  • Bridge the gaps among the business users and developers in understanding the needs, requirements, designs and specifications of the business needs.
  • Employ user-centered design methods and principles to analyze usage data, conduct user research, and collaborate with campus partners and content providers to identify needs, and translate them into functional requirements.
  • Contribute to project planning and management to complete project analysis activities in a timely manner.

    Software Quality
  • Design user acceptance test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures based on requirements and use cases.
  • Plan user acceptance test schedules or approaches in accordance with project scope or delivery dates.
  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content.
  • Document software defects using a bug or task tracking system, and report defects to software developers.
  • Knowledge transfer to user stakeholders supporting their ability to complete defined user acceptance testing.

    Change Management
  • Conduct impact analyses, assess and support change readiness and identify key stakeholders.
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress.
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of communications.
  • Support organizational design and definition of roles and responsibilities
  • Provide input, document requirements and support the design and delivery of end-user training.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Science, Informatics, Technical Communication, Human-Computer Interaction or related field OR has equivalent experience AND 4-5 or more years of experience to include:
  • IT and/or web-related business analysis roles eliciting and documenting business requirements, managing conflicting priorities, and gaining consensus on those requirements.
  • Applying business analysis techniques in both traditional waterfall and Agile project management approaches, and is able to effectively tailor the business analysis approach to the situation.
  • Experience with the effective employment of use cases in the software development process.
  • Business process modeling and process mapping.
  • Mapping requirements to test scenarios, describing the inputs and outputs for those scenarios, and managing requirements traceability.
  • Ability to work with all levels in an organizational structure, from individual contributors to senior executives, and has organizational awareness and commitment.
  • Self-starter that is achievement, action, and results orientated.
  • Well-organized and able to create order out of chaos.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; focuses on customer service; captures all applicable notes and minutes.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills; is an effective active listener; able to work with a wide range of communication styles.
  • Familiar with documentation and project management tools such as: Office 365, MS Project, JIRA, Visio, and SharePoint.

    DESIRED:
  • Experience facilitating the adoption of process changes through engagement with stakeholders and end-users, providing process documentation, and end-user training.
  • Experience completing analysis of reporting requirements and development of standard reports using tools like Business Objects, Crystal Reports, or Tableau.
  • Familiarity and experience with ProSci ADKAR or other change management model.
  • CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA or equivalent certification.
  • Prior experience as a software developer, tester or engineer.
  • Logical data modeling, basic SQL query construction.
