The Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as a regional resource for clinical laboratory services required for patient care, research and educational programs in laboratory medicine. Our Laboratory Medicine Department has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, BUYER 1. Under the direction of the operations manager, this position will procure equipment, supplies and services to meet departmental needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor purchasing queue on a daily basis and review purchase requests for compliance
  • Procure Departmental needs; supplies, equipment, services, maintenance contracts
  • Submit orders to vendors; prepare electronic purchase orders that are procedurally and grammatically correct and assuring specification compliance
  • Research and recommend new vendors and product alternative to fit end user’s needs
  • Provide prompt, courteous response to inquiries, requests and appointments
  • Review and prioritize tasks according to urgency. Ability to work in fast-paced environment where urgent and regularly changing deadlines must be met
  • Review and process invoices issues related to purchase and services
  • Accurately reconcile personal and review the department’s monthly ProCard transactions
  • Exceptional organization with all required filing, documentations, archiving and back up paper work
  • Exhibit a willingness to handle a fair share of the departmental workload as identified by management; participate as required in back-up and fill-in plans
  • Actively participate in long-term planning
  • Perform other duties as required

    REQUIREMENTS:
    One year of work experience in buying or purchasing AND an Associate of Arts Degree in Purchasing Management or two years of work experience in buying or purchasing AND two years of college;
    OR an equivalent combination of work experience in buying and purchasing and college level training.

    DESIRED:
  • Microsoft Office and data entry proficiency
  • General purchasing and contract reviewing knowledge/experience
  • Experience with Ariba, HEMM, MYFDT, E-Procurement, and/or ProCard
