Description: The University of Washington is seeking a clinical Perfusionist to join a current staff of eleven. We are one of the leading providers of services in cardiothoracic surgery in the region. This is a faculty appointment in the UW Department of Surgery.
Requirements: All Perfusionists shall assist in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). 85% of our cases are performed at UWMC, with the other 15% at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Northwest Hospital.
Perfusionists are responsible for the preparation, and operation of the heart and lung machine for cardiothoracic cases. Our case load includes but is not limited to performing heart, lung and liver transplants as well as CABGs, Valves, PTEs, Aortic Dissections, Complex Adult Congenital Cases and Angio Vac. We stand by for TAVRs and Laser Lead Extractions, provide cell saving services and support for our VAD nurses. Currently our Perfusionists are also responsible for OCS and ECLS. Perfusionist are also clinical instructors, as we are a clinical site with students rotating through.
The Perfusionist must be able to work independently as well as cohesively with other members of the perfusion team, OR staff, and surgeons. The Perfusionist will take an average of 10 days of call a month. The Perfusionist needs to be able to lead, teach and be flexible as we are a busy and growing hospital providing the most advanced cardiovascular care to our patients.
Qualifications and Education:
• Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited School of Cardiovascular Perfusion, and be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
