Our Laboratory Medicine Department has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time (60%/24 hrs per week), evening shift, CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN 2. Under general supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Technician 2 assists the surgical and nursing staff by facilitating orders from and issuing blood components to all patient care areas at UWMC and SCCA. The CLT2 is responsible for the inventory management of all blood components and facilitates the issuing of blood products and tracking of component orders.CLT2 will also perform component preparation such as irradiation, washing, volume reduction, thawing, pooling and splitting as necessary. Is responsible for operating equipment, performing QC and maintenance for refrigerators, freezers and component processing equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:
An Associate Degree from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program including courses in chemistry and biology
OR
equivalent education/experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
It will be necessary to work in other departmental locations in order to meet patient service requirements (e.g., Hall Health, Roosevelt II, Eastside Specialty Center and South Lake Union); in addition, less frequent work effort will be required at other UW School of Medicine locations
Will be considered essential staff and as such will be required to report to work when scheduled despite inclement weather
