UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity for a Communications Associate
The Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) is the nation’s leading source for transformative, evidence-based ideas about public education. The Communications Associate will lead marketing efforts, manage website content, work with vendors, conduct outreach, analyze web and social media trends, draft project impact summaries, and assist with coordinating external events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Lead CRPE’s marketing efforts through the creation of newsletters, blog teasers, press releases, and email updates that engage a variety of audiences.
o Independently create and post website content that is accessible and engaging to CRPE’s core audiences. Proactively audit CRPE’s website for opportunities to improve and expand content. Make recommendations to address project or organization-wide needs.
o Manage relationship with website development firm to execute website updates and site enhancements. Ensure site maintenance and security is current.
o Write project impact summaries for funder reports to meet grant requirements.
o Coordinate external events, such as media briefings, forums, and advisory board meetings.
o Support special projects across CRPE as needed.
o Manage CRPE’s contact database by creating targeted audience lists for outreach campaigns and updating contacts as needed.
o Analyze web, social media, email trends and statistics, and monitor traditional media hits.
REQUIREMENTS
o Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, or equivalent.
o At least 3 years of experience in communications such as editorial work, marketing, and website design.
o Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
o Creative, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated.
o Exceptional time and project management ability.
o Highly detail-oriented with the ability to focus on multiple projects.
o Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
o Customer-service mindset and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
o Basic web skills (CMS, HTML).
o Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
DESIRED
o Knowledge of or interest in K–12 public education research and policy.
o Experience with data and contact management systems (e.g., Box, Google Drive, email marketing platforms).
o Additional website skills (Drupal, Wordpress, JavaScript, etc.).
o Working knowledge of graphic design tools (InDesign, Adobe Pro, Photoshop).
o Audio Visual development/editing.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
o Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
o Must be willing to travel nationally when necessary.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
