The University of Washington’s Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) is at the forefront of ensuring tomorrow's technologies and systems are designed to meet the needs and interests of every individual, community, and society at large.

We build possibility. We advance systems and technologies for people and communities to create accessible, sustainable, and prosperous futures.

We create intersections. We thrive at the critical junction of research, education, and community to cultivate equity, access, and opportunity.

We believe a just future is possible. We will be the leading academic program integrating empathy and collaboration to design and engineer equitable practices, tools, and technologies across the globe.

HCDE has an outstanding opportunity for a Community Outreach & Engagement Program Manager. This individual will work directly with the HCDE Chair, Associate Chairs, Administrator, Academic Services team, faculty, and the College of Engineering’s Advancement team to grow and manage the department’s Corporate Affiliates Program (CAP) and Alumni Leadership Board as well as oversee industry focused events.

We are looking for someone who can create the intersections between students and industry, between faculty and community, between last year’s graduating class and graduates who have been in the field for ten years and help turn today’s students into tomorrow’s committed alumni.

Primary goals include:
Continuing the current growth trends in our Affiliates program, bringing on new community and industry partners and strengthening the relationships with our current affiliates, creating new engagement opportunities for our partners, students, and faculty.
Working directly with the Alumni Board to develop a pipeline between current students, recent graduates, and long-term professionals.

In addition, the Community Outreach & Engagement manager will:
Plan and run events such as our career fair, design jams, and First Friday tours of CAP member offices.
Recruit industry partners to provide projects for classroom activities and student capstones.
Collaborate with partners throughout the department and the College of Engineering to develop new ways of engaging with our communities.

HCDE is human-centered. We offer a collaborative work environment where staff, faculty, and students are all committed to success and work together to achieve our goals. Bring your passion for building relationships, and we will help you create possibility.
