UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits and natural beauty. All of which has allowed the UW to be nationally recognized as a “Great College to Work For” for five consecutive years.
The Undergraduate Research Program (URP), housed in the Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity in Undergraduate Academic Affairs, assists undergraduates in all fields to enrich their academic experience through engagement in exciting, hands-on research with UW faculty in all disciplines. URP staff helps students plan for year-round and summer undergraduate research experiences, identify faculty mentors and projects, define research goals, present and publish their work, and obtain funding for their research.
The URP has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-Time 100% Counseling Services Coordinator (CSC) to join our small, dynamic, collaborative team that promotes scholarly engagement and success. The CSC advises students interested in getting involved in, or furthering involvement in, undergraduate research opportunities; helps to plan and manage the annual UW Undergraduate Research Symposium and summer undergraduate research symposia; and assists the URP team with all components of a dynamic program portfolio. The URP Counseling Services Coordinator is critical to providing support for students seeking research opportunities and to mentors who wish to incorporate undergraduates into their research.
Demonstrated collaboration skills are key, as the URP is a resource for students, faculty, and staff throughout the University. In addition, the URP works closely with other programs in the Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity, including the Early Identification and McNair Scholars Programs, a part of the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity. The CSC interacts with other programs in Undergraduate Academic Affairs, such as First Year Programs and Academic Advising, to encourage undergraduate engagement in research. The Counseling Services Coordinator works with the URP Director and other program staff to set priorities and to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and staff.
