The Department of Biostatistics has an outstanding opportunity for a Curriculum Coordinator.
The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington has the top graduate program in the country. The Curriculum Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the faculty instructors and staff responsible for this success. Working directly with the department chair, administrator, and faculty curriculum committee chair, this position manages a wide range of activities that are important to delivering instruction, advising students, and maintaining data and records within UW systems.
Provide direct support to the department’s faculty-led Curriculum Committee (EPTEC, Educational Policy and Teaching Evaluation Committee); assist Chair in preparation of agenda and handouts; post materials to Portal site and keep site updated/current; maintain EPTEC archives; take minutes.
Coordinate quarterly course instructional needs, including course evaluations, TA evaluations, textbook orders, equipment assignments, Canvas permissions, instructor peers reviews, classroom scheduling, and final exam scheduling.
Manage quarterly curriculum duties including Time Schedule construction course adds, changes, and withdrawals; collection of course syllabi, enrollment reporting, grade submission, course listing updates, and web site links updates.
Independently answer inquiries about Educational Programs; advise current students, faculty, and potential applicants on requirements/policies (Departmental, Graduate School, SPH, UW) and courses/curriculum; evaluate application transcripts for prerequisites met; and advise applicants of eligibility.
Advise transfer students on eligibility and requirements. Independently conduct workshops and training sessions on successful progress toward degree completion for prospective and current students.
Provide direct support to the departmental faculty Admissions Committee. Coordinate meetings; take minutes; prepare materials. advise prospective applicants on admissions requirements, degree pathways, and application package components; track applicant progress and notify applicants of missing items; track applications via MGP.
Manage the MyGrad Program (MGP) admissions system; collect/process application materials and enter specific details. Attend SPH and Graduate School meetings and trainings related to admissions.
GENERAL ADMINSTRATIVE SUPPORT
Provide Faculty meeting support (agenda, preparation of materials, scheduling, taking minutes).
Special projects as assigned by the Department Chair, including (for example) working with School-level committees and projects.
Manage the department room reservation system; submit facilities requests; receive and sort mail as needed.
Share workload with other staff as needed to complete program and student support tasks, such as providing event-related support, proctoring exams, and maintaining other physical and online materials and spaces.

Bachelor’s Degree in the Sciences, Business, or Liberal Arts. Equivalent experience may not substitute for degree.
A minimum of 2 years experience managing instructional activities at UW, including experience with the Time Schedule, MyGrad, and all aspects of course support.
Excellent written and oral communication.
Strong work ethic; collaborative spirit; and desire to provide excellent customer service.
Intermediate or better experience with MS Office applications.
Experience in an academic setting.
Experience supporting a diverse workplace or student groups, including local and international constituents.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Experience managing Canvas, content management systems (CMS) and databases.
