Office of Research Information Services (ORIS), a division of the Office of Research, coordinates, develops, and supports electronic research administration for faculty and staff at the University of Washington. Goals include:
The University of Washington’s Office of Research Information Services has an outstanding opportunity for a full time Data Analyst.
The Office of Research serves researchers and research organizations within the University of Washington by providing services, information, and tools to improve the ease of securing and maintaining award-based funding for research.
Within the Office of Research, the Decision Support Services (DSS) team develops and supports reports, visualizations, and data analysis tools (e.g. reporting cubes) for the UW research community. These tools help the UW research community (1) understand the changing dynamics of research funding and expenditures, (2) measure compliance with government and sponsor policies, and (3) build a picture to help improve operational effectiveness.
As the prospective data analyst with the DSS Team, you understand and are sincerely interested in ways to use data for improving organizational transparency and effectiveness. You also understand the challenges and pitfalls associated with data tools and data-driven approaches. Above all, you are a natural evangelist for improving data quality, usability, and availability as a means to support data-driven approaches and improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

This position contributes in a collaborative team work environment. Collaboration among co-workers is supported through a shared space working environment, ad hoc meetings focused on problem-solving, and the use of synchronous and asynchronous communication tools. Occasional non standard work areas or inflexible deadlines may occur.
