The Collaborative Health Studies Coordinating Center (CHSCC, https://www.uwchscc.org/default.aspx) in the department of Biostatistics works collaboratively with sponsors and clinical investigators to design and implement multicenter epidemiological studies and clinical trials. A team of programmers, biostatisticians, epidemiologists and project managers provides expertise in study design, data collection and management, and statistical analysis. The CHSCCs mission is to support studies that further scientific inquiry in areas that ultimately impact public health.
The CHSCC is physically located in beautiful Magnuson Park with ample free parking and is served by two bus routes with stops nearby.
The Department of Biostatistics has an outstanding opportunity for a Data Manager/Analyst (70-100%) to contribute to the epidemiologic research activities of the Collaborative Health Studies Coordinating Center (CHSCC). Main duties will include performing data management and data analysis for primarily, the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS), as well as the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA), two ongoing longitudinal cohort studies of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, this position will manage the auxiliary enterprise accounts for CHS and MESA.
The successful applicant is highly organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently on multiple tasks, and communicates effectively with a diverse group of collaborators. This position requires interaction with local investigators and those at collaborating institutions internationally.
Responsibilities:
Data Management
•Fulfill data requests for internal and external investigators, including data set preparation, documentation, and updates.
•Answer inquiries from investigators regarding study data, variables, and data policies.
•Administer Data Management and Materials Agreements and maintain detailed records of these documents.
•Maintain and update study databases with new and corrected data.
•Participate in data cleaning activities and oversee data verification and reconciliation processes.
•Maintain and update study datasets and documentation on public access sites such as BIOLINCC and dbGaP.
•In collaboration with the CHS Ancillary Studies Coordinator, ensure that data and documentation from ancillary studies is sent to the Coordinating Center in accordance with CHS policies.
•Maintain updated data sets and documentation on study web sites. Take responsibility for content of web site regarding data issues and summaries.
Data Analysis
•Perform statistical analyses of data for reports, for grant preparation, and for publication in peer reviewed journals.
•Perform sample selection according to specific criteria
Fiscal Management – Auxiliary Enterprise Accounts (0-20%)
•In coordination with the Program Director and Ancillary Studies Manager, generate fee-for-service quotes for ancillary studies.
•Track progress of fee-for-service projects and generate invoices based on deliverables.
•Track quotes, invoices, and receivables.
•Oversee reconciliation of billing in accordance with UW procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics, public health or related field
•Minimum two years experience with data management in related field.
•Experience in quantitative data analysis with statistical software packages (Stata, R, SAS, etc.)
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
•Ability to prioritize competing demands to successfully meet deadlines.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Desired:
•Master degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics, public health, or related field.
•Previous professional experience working on large biomedical research studies, preferably multi-site with multiple investigators (e.g. research consortium, coordinating center context; project management experience).
•Proficiency in Stata
•Experience using relational databases (e.g. MS SQL Server, MS Access)
•Experience with genetic data and ability to process large datasets.
•Familiarity with human subjects research.
•Knowledge or experience in cardiovascular epidemiology research.
•Experience with UW fiscal systems including My Financial Desktop
