As part of the Integrated Service Center (ISC), the Analytics, Reporting and Security team is central to the use of the Workday application at the University of Washington by providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. The Analytics, Reporting and Security team supports the University’s faculty, staff and student workers by maintaining and enhancing Workday cross functional areas of Reporting, Analytics and Security modules. The hallmarks of the ISC are in delivering services that are timely, accurate and highly attuned to the fast-paced university environment.
The ISC has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Analytics, Reporting and Security.
Reporting to the ISC Executive Director, the Director of Analytics, Reporting and Security will serve as a strategic application consultant to university stakeholders for security, reporting and data analytics functionality from Workday, a cloud-based human resource management software system. This position will be responsible for implementing new functionality both within and outside the Workday tool to ensure that the UW has the necessary information to make key data-driven business decisions, and to fully utilize the capability of the Workday tool. Additionally, this position will be responsible for working with business units to determine requirements for analytics tools and dashboards that will support increased business capability. This position will partner with other technical leadership across the UW to further develop the enterprise-wide security, reporting and analytics strategy, ensuring that data standards support business intelligence outputs via the data warehouse. This includes working closely with UW Information Technology, UW Medicine, and the UW Finance Transformation Program that is responsible for implementing the financial modules within the Workday tool.
More specific responsibilities include driving the University’s strategic adoption of Workday Reporting, managing Workday technical report development, including working with the Reports team on mitigation of existing reports from needs assessment to report implementation, oversight of testing and validating reports, and overseeing functionality changes and new Workday releases. It also includes ensuring the security for Workday data is aligned with the university data governance protocols and design of new and existing data structures within Workday, and that security and reporting are coordinated to meet end-users' business needs working in close partnership with teams across the University.
This position is responsible for technical leadership of a team of business analysts who develop reports in the Workday production environment; building strong working relationships with other units represented within the ISC and external partners; communicating issues in a timely and accurate manner to ISC and other University leadership, state agencies, and other external entities; providing human resource management of the team; and providing leadership for operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Leadership of Workday Security, Reporting and Data Analytics
- Lead the existing Workday security and reporting support model by analyzing the needs of, and work closely with, functional partners, team members and partner technical teams to deliver stable and reliable Workday functionality
- Maintain a strategic view of Workday security, analytics and reporting as well as how the functionality fits into an enterprise wide approach and the technical landscape of the UW
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Application Management, responsible for the operational aspects including keeping functional partners and leadership stakeholders apprised of key challenges and resolution of escalated issues
- Maintain and prioritize backlog of requests, optimization opportunities and other related improvements, delegating work across the reporting team and working with other IT partners to coordinate work
- Evaluate and assimilate evolving Workday cross functional capabilities of security, analytics and reporting, remaining cognizant of complex system inter-dependencies and associated business process implications
- Serve as a Workday technical leadership liaison and where appropriate implement additional functionality to increase data analytics, security and reporting capability for end users and to provide optimal business value
- Lead advanced analysis of the Workday security, analytics and reporting Roadmap and coordinate closely with stakeholders to understand implications and associated update priorities
- Leverage broad insight across the spectrum of Workday cross functional processes and technical inter-dependencies, understanding and balancing design concepts, inter-dependencies with other systems and processes and end-user experience
- Lead evaluation of processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement required updates/enhancements in the context of a continuous improvement framework
- Seek opportunities to utilize Workday data analytics to ease customer pain points, increase understanding of trends and opportunities for improvement and drive fact based decision making
Advanced Operational Support
- Partner and coordinate closely across all ISC tiers for Reporting, Analytics and Security including customer support and engagement and maintain strong working relationship with Application Management Tier 3
- Functioning as an advanced systems expert and leader for Workday cross functional processes of Security, Analytics and Reporting, troubleshoot and support resolution of complex user/stakeholder inquiries and issues - identify resolutions and communicate results
- Provide customer focused tools and services to meet evolving needs
Staff Management and Development
- Supervise and coach a team of managers and business analysts working to continuously improve the user experience
- Collaborate with other ISC leaders to effectively manage performance and skills development
- Ensure that all staff have quality coaching, oversight, and professional development plans and opportunities
Knowledge Management, Training & Communication
- Maintain productive relationships with designated stakeholders and technical leadership across the UW enterprise to understand and define security, analytics and reporting policies, procedures and established standards
- Support University and ISC knowledge management processes, including identification and verification of additions/changes to the working repository of knowledge content
- Support ISC training activities, including development of content and training of report writers both within and external to the ISC
- Support ISC communication of reporting and data analytics enhancements/updates and outreach to customers and end users
REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
