The School of Law has an exciting new opportunity for a Director of Finance.
The Director of Finance position is responsible for leading the School’s financial planning and management, budget development, monitoring, reporting, long-range forecasting, Dean's level grant and contract fiscal oversight, and policy setting regarding fiscal procedures. The Director oversees annual budgets worth $35M across a total of 10 professional academic and research programs. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Operations, and works in partnership with the school’s leadership and administrators to oversee, implement, and provide accurate and timely financial reports for a wide variety of funding sources including state, research, gift and self-sustaining funds. The Director is a member of the school’s senior leadership team, and represents the school at meetings of and on committees for university-wide administrative and financial leadership staff.
The Director has a comprehensive range of responsibilities in the realm of financial planning and management. The Director oversees two other finance professionals and the core services provided to the school including payroll, procurement, grant and contract management and financial reporting. This position is integral to growing and improving the financial planning and analysis performance of the school, meanwhile working with faculty, librarians, staff, and students to facilitate the school’s ability to achieve their educational and scholarly goals. The Director will help lead the school’s efforts to support the UW’s Financial Transformation Program (UWFT), a $200M initiative to replace the UW’s financial systems with an integrated system that manages the full suite of financial transitions and reporting needs. As the lead for the initiative, the Director will represent the school to the UWFT Program, and will facilitate the school’s staff and system readiness for this major change initiative and help champion a successful end user experience.
