The Department of Genome Sciences, part of the University of Washington School of Medicine, focuses on answering critical scientific questions by developing and applying genetic, genomic and computational approaches. In particular, we are making major contributions in the application of genomics to understand the fundamentals of biology and to improve human health and wellbeing. Genome Sciences boasts a collaborative, integrated environment supported by a diversity of academic disciplines. We also work many others both on the UW campus as well as worldwide. The department has been highly successful, expanding since its beginning in 2001 to 47 training, teaching, and research faculty with annual grant awards of $56M in FY19.
The Department of Genome Sciences currently has an outstanding opportunity for a DIRECTOR OF FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS.
The Shendure lab, in the Department of Genome Sciences, develops innovative genomic technologies. Our interests include single-cell assay development, CRISPR/Cas9 system optimization, cell lineage tracing, and next generation DNA sequencing. This is an academic lab and funded by both federal grants and by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. We are currently seeking a Director, Functional Genomics for employment in our laboratory at University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
