The Office of Research has a outstanding opportunity for Director of the Office of Research Misconduct Proceedings (ORMP).
This position will have responsibility for investigation and reporting of possible research misconduct as required under University of Washington Executive Order 61. The Director will coordinate and actively participate in assessments, inquiries and investigations into allegations of research misconduct in consultation and cooperation with the schools, colleges, and campuses.
The Director must demonstrate a high level of initiative, judgment, and analytical skills, as well as being collaborative, and have the ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with a variety of offices and individuals throughout the University community.
In addition to oversight of 3 research administrative and compliance-related units (Office of Sponsored Programs, Human Subjects Division, and Office of Research Information Services), the Office of Research has other responsibilities, such as Research Compliance, Financial Conflict of Interest management, and Faculty Outside Work approvals. In contrast, the role of the Director of ORMP is investigative, rather than compliance oriented. Investigation and reporting of possible research misconduct is a requirement of federal and other funding agencies, as well as the University, under Executive Order 61. The Director of the ORMP will be responsible for conducting investigations, in coordination with departments, schools, and campuses, as well as maintaining the resulting records, strictly for research misconduct activities.

REQUIREMENTS:
Juris Doctor Degree or PhD plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in legal investigatory or other compliance-related matters.
If JD, candidates should be familiar with the scientific research environment and general research practice. If PhD, candidates should have administrative experience in legal investigatory or other compliance-related matters. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in one of these areas is required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
