The Department of Global Health was established in 2007, bridging the schools of Medicine and Public Health, with a mandate to harness the expertise and interdisciplinary power of all UW schools and colleges. Our mission is to improve health for all through research, education, training, and service; to understand and address the causes of disease and health inequities at multiple levels; and to collaborate with partners to develop and sustain locally-led, quality health systems, programs and policies. The Global Health E-Learning Program (eDGH) works within the Department of Global Health to expand access to health education for a global workforce through innovative e-learning technologies in order to impact health outcomes in resource-limited settings.
In pursuit of this goal, eDGH develops and manages online courses for an international audience and supports department faculty in the development and implementation of education, research, and service projects with integrated e-learning. The eDGH team also partners with faculty and external agencies to develop e-learning products for international health trainings and develops international relationships with partners to develop local e-learning implementation capacity.
eDGH has an outstanding opportunity for an E-Learning Developer and Technology Specialist.
This position will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of in developing and supporting the implementation of training and educational products and courses, and will have a special responsibility in supporting the administration of courses in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and assisting with supporting webcasting and remote meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for a flexible, motivated person with a background in instructional design or learning technologies who wants an opportunity to use their skills in the dissemination of a wide range of international health programs to perform in a high functioning team on varied high-impact training programs.
Qualified applicants require general skills in instructional design, e-learning development, and e-learning technologies. Our ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, can be flexible in working across cultures and will be able to apply broad technical knowledge in solving a variety of challenges.

This position will assist in production of e-learning courses and products for Dept. of Global Health educational programs and support distance education and collaboration technologies. Specific duties will vary based on the projects being undertaken, but include the following:
E-Learning Course Development
• In conjunction with faculty and other experts, develop plans for creating e-learning content.
• Develop storyboards for e-learning.
• Assist faculty and subject matter experts in adapting learning content for e-learning formats.
• Use e-learning authoring tools to create e-learning modules.
• Participate in review and feedback meetings and implement changes to e-learning products.
Learning Management System Administration
• Serve as primary technical contact for a Canvas LMS instance.
• Assist with administration of multiple limited-use Moodle instances.
• Assemble e-learning content into a LMS.
• Provide technical support to students in online courses.
• Advise partners on implementation of LMS for use in training programs.
Webcast and Remote Meeting Support
• Support live webcasts.
• Capture content from live lecture and class events.
• Use software tools to edit audio and synchronize audio with slides for e-learning presentations.
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S. in Learning Technologies, Education, Instructional Design, or similar field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-4 years of experience developing, delivering, or supporting training in electronic formats.
• Experience with remote meeting software, such as Zoom.
• Experience with lecture-capture software, such as Panopto.
• Experience using and configuring Learning Management Systems, such as Instructure Canvas and Moodle.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and sensitivity to communication across cultures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Ability to work flexibly in a complex international environment.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
• Experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Presenter and Articulate Storyline.
• Familiarity with basic audio and video editing.
• Experience working in international or low-resource settings.
• Established interest in public health and global health.
