Are you a systems thinker who is interested in IT systems, applications, and architecture? Do you thrive working in a team environment? The University of Washington Bothell is seeking an analytical and collaborative Enterprise Systems Developer & Architect to join our Information Technologies team.
In this role, you’ll be architecting, developing, supporting, and maintaining our applications infrastructure, consisting of in-house and vendor-supported solutions. You’ll be working with internal and external stakeholders on a variety of projects with a campus-wide impact in a fast-paced environment. We’ll look to you to lead in architecting and planning our migration to a new web platform; developing our technical roadmap; coaching and mentoring colleagues by providing technical guidance and skill development; and participating in UW technical Communities of Practice.
Experiences, qualities, and skills that you’ve refined for success in this role include: collaboration and cross-functional teaming; exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; a customer-focus; strong analytical, organization, project management, and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, self-starter who can work independently to meet deadlines; technical aptitude and the desire to continuously learn new technologies, skills, methods, and best practices.
Minimum requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Liberal Arts, related discipline area or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
• At least 4 years of experience in a combination of software development, supporting web platforms, and IT architecture
• Highly proficient with enterprise software development methodologies, system administration & programming languages/frameworks ( .NET, C#, Python, PHP).
• Demonstrated knowledge of web content management platforms; advising stakeholders on categorization of content taxonomy, semantics, design, and security.
• Experience deploying applications on cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS); utilizing DevOps methodologies; implementing best practices for security, privacy, and accessibility.
• Highly developed communication, negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly.
• Leads and develops project plans and/or work breakdown structures; high attention to detail, completes tasks with few or no errors; meets deadlines.
• Coaches and mentors junior staff members on skill development; provide guidance in overcoming technical obstacles and questions.
• Experience with architectural principles and developing technical roadmaps.
• Effectively collaborates with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal) with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-experts.
• Ability to work with a diverse constituency.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in a combination of software development, supporting web platforms, and IT architecture.
• Experience with Kentico CMS and/or Wordpress CMS.
• Experience deploying applications on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
• Foundational knowledge of Architecture domains.
• Service management experience (i.e., incident, change, request, problem).
• Continually learns and improves existing skillset, including but not limited to: new technologies, skills, methods, and best practices.
• Working conditions:
