The College of Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for an Equipment Manager.  

The Equipment Manager will be responsible for the development and support of facility user projects, nanofabrication process development, and overseeing equipment maintenance and support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with other facility staff and users to develop, characterize, document and report nanofabrication processes within the user facility.
• Execute and document processing project activities for remote and local facility users
• Work directly with local researchers, including university staff and students as well as industrial users, to support their nanofabrication research needs through process development, as well as equipment and processing training and support.
• Evaluate the feasibility of proposed projects by facility users and develop alternative solutions
• Assume primary responsibility for several pieces of complex equipment used in nanofabrication, including but not limited to photolithography, dry etching, thin-film deposition, Back-End-Of-Line (BEOL), and inspection and analysis. Responsibilities of tool ownership include preventative maintenance, system documentation and training, and user support.
• Establish performance requirements for nanofabrication processes and evaluate performance metrics
• Lead and mentor maintenance staff members. Be cross-trained and provide secondary support on other equipment in the cleanroom
• Establish and maintain a critical spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance schedule.
• Lead or assist in capital equipment acquisition planning and coordination of vendor activities.
• Maintain equipment performance and facilities infrastructure utilization data.
• Other duties as assigned.
Work will be primarily within the Fluke Hall cleanroom facility, and will involve hands-on work with complex processing equipment, delicate samples, chemicals, compressed gasses.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or equivalent years of experience may be considered.
• At least 5 years working experience with micro and nanofabrication equipment, preferably in a multi-user, multi-disciplinary research-oriented facility.
• Significant experience working in a cleanroom environment
• Working knowledge of vacuum systems
• Working knowledge of hazardous materials handling and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE
• Nanofabrication experience including both process development and equipment maintenance including high vacuum systems.
• Experience with a wide range of nanofabrication processes desired, including chemical and physical vapor deposition, etch, lithography, metrology and inspection equipment
• Ability to plan and execute complex projects such as wafer processing projects, process development and characterization, or equipment installation planning
• Experience with Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) is preferred.
