UWMC Maintenance has an outstanding opportunity for a full time day shift FACILITIES OPERATIONS MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST. The individual in this role will evaluate equipment operations problems and emergencies in UW Medical Center; taking appropriate action to return equipment to its normal operating condition; monitor building systems operations to ensure their normal functioning. Respond to emergency calls and reported malfunctions on mechanical, electrical or utility systems. e.g., elevators, hospital life support systems; apply journey-level knowledge in associated trades; work independently without on-shift supervision and exercise independent judgment to solve problems. The individual will also inspect and initiate corrective action on a variety of mechanical, electrical, life support, and air-conditioning equipment; determine need to call in and coordinate other mechanics as necessary to resolve emergency conditions, and coordinate with campus police during off-hour emergencies.
•Ventilation: supply, return, and exhaust fans, fume and ETO exhaust fans, dampers, smoke dampers, motors, belts, mixing and static control boxes

•Heating: pumps, valves, coils, steam equipment, convectors, exchangers

•Support Equipment: medical air producers, medical vacuum producers, dental vac, waste vac, medical gases (oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, carbon dioxide)
Operating, monitoring, confidence testing, controls, repair, ordering
•Electrical: normal and emergency power distribution (main and tie breakers, panel feeds, branch circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, motor control centers,
variable frequency drives, isolation alarms, UPS) operating, monitoring, confidence testing, alarms
•Lighting: fixtures, controls (remote switches, dimmers, time clocks, relays) operating, repair, re-lamping
•Fire Sprinklers: fire pumps and regulators, main, section, and zone valves, sprinkler heads operating, monitoring, confidence testing, repair
•Fire Extinguishers: ABC, CO2, Halon operating, monthly inspction
•Fire Alarm: computer terminal, audio panel, pressurization panel, elevator recall, local zone input and output panels, detectors, flow and tamper switches

•Chemical Spill: ascertain source (at personal risk), cordon off areas, summon SFD and EHS and coordinate with them to final disposition
Critical Alarm: computer terminals and printers, initiating devices (temperature, pressure, duress, failure) operating, monitoring, programming, alarm response
•Metasys: (building automation) computer terminals, printers, local controllers, sensors, operators operating, monitoring, programming, alarm response, repair, reports
Pneumatic Tubes (Swisslogic Pneumatic Tubes System) vacuum producers, monitors, stations, gates, carriers operating, monitoring, repair, alarm response
•Plumbing: hot water heating, piping, valves, fixtures, drains, plaster traps operating, monitoring, meter reading, repair, alarm response
•Nurse Call: master, duty, and patient stations, patient control units, quad pads operating, monitoring, repair, programming, alarm response
•Communication: telephones, stenofons, televisions, two-way radios operating, repair, programming, replacement
•Hospital Beds: several varieties with optional scales, extenders, controls, trapeze operating, repair, installation
•Misc. Equipment: blanket/solution warmers, sterilizers, imprinters operating, repair
•ETO Sterilizers: changing toxic cylinders, alarm response
•Sanipak: medical waste sterilizer and garbage compactor repair
•Doors/Windows: automatic, security, and exit doors, hardware, time clocks, blinds operating, programming, repair, and alternative security
•Clock System: master and remote clocks operating, and replacement
•Kitchen Equipment: dishwasher, ovens, rills, kettles, walk-ins repair
•Floods: control source, contain and minimize damage, contribute and coordinate to final disposition
•Building Leaks: roofs, windows, expansion joints, planters, decks, drains control flooding
•Ceiling Tiles: spline, t-bar lay-in replacement and removal
•Utility As-Builts: ventilation, pneumatic tubes, plumbing, medical gases update and maintain drawings of building utility systems
•Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of journey-level experience in one or more skilled trades, including experience in heating and air-conditioning systems, mechanical and electrical systems. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
