BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is a key support player on the Burke Museum’s fiscal team. This team provides timely and accurate service to all Burke staff and external constituents. This position works in a collaborative environment geared towards improving and streamlining processes, taking advantage of technological tools and supporting coworkers. The position is part of the fiscal office that ensures the Burke Museum is adhering to UW financial policies and governmental accounting standards.

FISCAL DUTIES
  • Collect and process cash deposits for admissions, gift store sales, donation boxes, public and education programs, event rental and other departments as needed.  Cash transfers processed as required.
  • Assist with MyFD reconciliation process for Burke budgets. Elements include requesting and storing documents needed from generating department, or from available online systems. Follow through as necessary with journal vouchers to transfer expenses as necessary. Prepare on-line and hard copy journal voucher requests.
  • Assist with maintenance of Access database program by researching missing project cost codes.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Annually send files to archives to make space for new fiscal year budget files.
  • May meet with Burke staff as needed to assist in training around fiscal process/procedure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma, or GED certificate; AND fifteen quarter hours or ten semester hours of college-level accounting or bookkeeping. Eighteen months of equivalent experience may substitute for required college-level course work. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
  • Must be proficient with Excel and Word.
  • Must be exceptionally detail-oriented.
  • Must have proven experience following clear direction, and completing tasks given in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

    DESIRED:
  • Familiarity with Access and MyFD
  • Ability to work 4-5 days per week during a morning shift

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Able to work in an environment visible to the public with visual and audible distractions
  • Wear required credentials at all times and work attire/uniforms and name tags as required by position
  • Position will work 15-19 hours per week
