University of Washington Medical Center Nutrition Services department has multiple employment opportunities for temporary/hourly, FOOD SERVICE WORKERS. Your application to this candidate bank will be considered for these outstanding opportunities.

The individual in this role will perform a variety of duties including preparing and serving food, maintaining sanitary conditions of kitchen facilities, and serving food on cafeteria line.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve food in cafeteria line
  • Serve food in patient tray make-up area following selected or marked individual patient menus
  • Open cans, apportion contents, wash and prepare vegetables for cooking
  • Make and serve beverages and soda fountain items
  • Assemble salads, sandwiches and desserts
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans and equipment; may operate ware and utensil washing machines

  • Clean cafe tables/vending area and chairs, fill salt and pepper shakers, salad dressing and napkin containers
  • Empty garbage cans and perform special cleaning projects
  • Rearrange tables
  • Finalize (reheat or reconstitute) trays for delivery to patients; may deliver and collect food trays and between meal feedings for patients
  • May relieve or assist other employees in higher level food preparation tasks to meet emergency or on-the-job training situations
  • May operate kitchen equipment
  • May take cash payment for meals
  • May operate washers and driers and sort and fold laundry for food service operation
  • Perform related duties as required.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.

    DESIRED:
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret patient meal ticket.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours and to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain safety and sanitation standards.
